How To you Download Facebook or Youtube Videos Without Any Web Tools

How To Download Facebook or Youtube Videos Without Any ToolsHave you ever liked a video shared by your friend on facebook and wanted to download it…Well this this tutorial is not only for facebook or youtube instead it can be used for any video streaming website like metacafe, dailymotion, veoh or yahoo videos. There are websites on the internet that will convert your video link into a download link but it has the following drawback

  • If you already watched the whole video and then you decide to download it to your computer it will take double time becuase you already have spent time watching it and now have to spend time downloading it to your hardrive.
  • Moreover, the download speeds are very slow and its very irritating to download the whole video again.
But if you have already played the whole video on the site then there is no need to waste the time on downloading it again. We simply have to locate the cache folder of the browser as when the video is streamed it is automatically saved in the cache folder and just have to copy paste the video file from cache folder to your desired location in your computer.

Here is the step by step tutorial with screenshots on how you can locate the cache folder for various browsers in various operating systems
Case 1:Google Chrome
For windows Vista and Windows 7
If you use google chrome in windows vista or windows 7 then here is the location of the cache folder
C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\UserData\Default\Cache
C, being the system root. If you are not sure about the system root you can replace C: with %systemroot%.
Also donot forget to replace USER_NAME to your windows username
For Windows Xp Users
In windows Xp the google chrome cache folder can be found at
C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome
CASE 2:Mozilla Firefox
For Windows 7 and Windows Vista
The temporary cache folder can be located at
C:\Users\USER_NAME \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
For Window Xp Users
The temporary cache folder can be located at
C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME \Local Settings\Application Data
CASE 3:Internet Explorer
In case of Internet Explorer you need to go to Tools>Internet Options and then in Genreal tab click on Settings button
A new window will popup in front of you now click on View Files button.

How To Find Your Video In Cache Folder
Once you have found the cache folder of your browser the next thing you have to do is locate your video file.To do this arrange the files of the folder according to their size because video files are usually large in size.Open the largest files with Vlc player.Once you have found your video just copy it to your desired location.
Note:There are usually Some data files with names like data_1 in cache folder.Donot open them with Vlc open the rest of the files with Vlc and you will easily find your video.
Note:Make sure that you replace the USER_NAME with your windows username in the above addresses

How to set up video calling on Facebook

To make video calls on Facebook users will require a webcam-equipped computer and then select a friend they want to video chat with. In the chat window that pops up, clicking on a small blue video icon brings up the video chat feature (or when a friend tries to make a video call to the user) and the first time the user will be prompted to download and run a 482KB .exe file. Once the setup downloads and downloads and installs the necessary files, the user is ready for a face-to-face chat.

Some users can face issues with video calling because of hardware and/or software incompatibility. Facebook video calling is supported for the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer web browsers. Users should also check if any other4 program is using their webcam. Windows users also have to ensure that they have the latest version of Microsoft Direct installed.

Google+ is New Facebook Rival

Google has launched a new social networking website in its latest attempt to take on Facebook, which now claims more than 500m users.
Google+ (Google plus) allows individuals to share photos, messages and comments but also integrates the company’s maps and images into the service. It also aims to help users easily organise contacts within groups.
But some analysts say Google has simply reproduced features of Facebook while adding a video chat function. Google, which handles roughly two out of every three internet searches in the US, has taken several stabs at Facebook in recent years. But its previous efforts ended in failure, with both Google Wave and Google Buzz proving unpopular with users.
New functions of it
The company is now boasting that four features in Google+ could help make the company a permanent player in social networking:
  • Circles – a functionality that allows individuals to place friends into groups, allowing users to share different forms of content with targeted clusters of friends
  • Hangouts – live multi-user video conferencing that permits friends to drop in and out of live group conversations
  • Huddle – group instant messaging
  • Sparks – a feature that connects individuals on the network to others with common interests.
The current version of Google+ has only been released to a small number of users, but the company has said it soon hopes to make the social network available to the millions of individuals that use its services each day.
“Online sharing needs a serious re-think, so it’s time we got started,” Vic Gundotra, senior vice president of engineering at Google, said in a press release.
“Other social networking tools make selective sharing within small groups difficult,” she added, taking what appears to be a jab at Facebook’s recent grouping function. But some analysts have said Google could have a difficult time converting Facebook devotees to their new social network.
“People have their social circles on Facebook – asking them to create another social circle is challenging,” Debra Aho Williamson, principal analyst with research firm eMarketer, told the Associated Press news agency.
“The whole idea of a Google social network… they’ve been throwing stuff against the wall for several years and so forth nothing has stuck,” she added.

Facebook Offers Video Chat in Arrangement With Skype

The new feature allows users a way to connect with friends other than just posting messages, said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, said at a news conference here at the company’s headquarters. “It’s so easy, so minimal to use,” he said.

Last week, Google introduced Google+, its latest and most serious challenge yet in social networking, which includes video chatting for up to 10 people in an area of the site called Hangouts. So far, Google has limited the number of people who can sign up for the networking service.

To a certain extent, Facebook is playing catch-up — an unfamiliar position for a company that has grown to 750 million users worldwide, a figure Mr. Zuckerberg disclosed at the news conference. He has spent the last few years lifting Facebook past its rivals — it had 500 million users a year ago — but now faces questions about why he is following their lead.

The new Facebook service does not allow for group video chats, for example. It is also not available on mobile phones, unlike Skype’s smartphone apps.

Danny Sullivan, editor of Search Engine Land, an industry blog, said Facebook’s new service at least lets the company counter Google’s move with its video chat. But in the end, he said, video chatting has been widely available for years in a variety of ways, like through instant messaging services, Skype and Apple’s FaceTime.

“I didn’t get the impression that people were finding it difficult to find one-to-one video chatting if they wanted to,” Mr. Sullivan said. “This potentially makes it easier for more people to get going, but I don’t see it as that hard to begin with.”

To start a video chat on Facebook, users click a button on their Facebook chat list or on a friend’s profile page. A box will then appear on the computer screen of that friend to either accept or decline the call.

Conversations take place inside a window that pops up within the browser. Downloading a plug-in is required to make and receive calls.

Video chatting will be available to all Facebook’s users in the coming weeks. For now, however, users can access it at facebook.com/videocalling.

For Skype, the partnership with Facebook provides a chance to have more visibility beyond its 170 million users. The service is free on Facebook, but Tony Bates, Skype’s chief executive, raised the possibility of eventually making paid calls available to Facebook users.

Making calls from computer to computer through Skype is free. But people who use Skype to call a landline or a mobile phone must pay. Facebook’s alliance with Skype expands an existing partnership between the two companies. Their cooperation started last year when Skype let its users connect with their Facebook friends from Skype and to get news feeds.

Last month, the Skype added a Facebook contacts tab and let Skype users send instant messages to their Facebook friends and comment on their friends’ status — all without leaving the Skype window.

But making Skype available on Facebook is risky and may, in the short term, undermine its business, said Greg Sterling, an analyst at Opus Research.

Facebook’s users will most likely flock to the new video chatting service, he said, while avoiding visiting Skype’s branded service directly.

“Obviously this is a great feature for Facebook — it’s really simple and a lot of people will use it,” Mr. Sterling said. But he added, “I think it’s going to have an adverse impact on Skype.”

Mr. Bates said: “We’ve always wanted to be as ubiquitous as possible. The long-term partnership far outweighs users moving from Skype, or visa versa.”

Microsoft is closing in on its acquisition of Skype for $8.5 billion. The purchase, announced two months ago, would give Microsoft a bigger footprint in online communications for consumers and corporate customers.

Microsoft, through its Skype acquisition, would also strengthen its ties to Facebook. Microsoft bought a small stake in Facebook in 2007, and it continues to provide search results within Facebook.

During the news conference on Wednesday, Mr. Zuckerberg signaled that the Skype integration was the first of several deals that would add services to Facebook with the help of other companies.

“Independent entrepreneurs, or entrepreneurs that focus on one thing, will always do better than a company that tries to focus on a million things,” Mr. Zuckerberg said in a comment that could be interpreted either as an acknowledgment of Facebook’s limits, or as a dig at Google for its broad ambitions.

Facebook Starts Deals Service

The social networking website Facebook will be rolling out its new deals service that offers best restaurant, spa and other shopping deals in your locality.

The service would initially begin with San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin and San Diego. Well, it’s really tough time for Groupon deals service firm, which is also in the same line of business and was often considered by major companies for takeover.

Facebook’s initiative comes just after the launch of Google’s deals service. The Google deals service was launched in few regions including Portland, San Francisco, Oakland and other places. Even Google tried taking over Groupon’s business.

It is not disclosed as to how much money that Facebook would be making in each deal. Since it is Facebook’s deal service, not just credit cards you can also use your Facebook credits for buying deals.

Check if Someone Else is Using Your Facebook Account? How To Check if someone else is using your Facebook Account

It’s very much important to understand and have proper security features enabled on the Social Networks. We provide all the personal information one way or the other in the social network, hence its very important to know and control the activities on these sites. If you notice some suspicious activity on your Facebook wall take some time to see if someone else is using your account with simple security check.

Go to Facebook.com -> Account -> Account Settings -> Account Security. Here you’ll see a list of all computers and mobile devices that have logged into your Facebook account and when. You can also see the approximate geographic location of the device, based on the IP address, that was used to access your Facebook account.

If you come across an unknown device / location in the list, say you are Mac user and the device listed is IE on Windows, just click the corresponding “end activity” link and it should immediately log you out from that machine.

For extra safety, you may also choose to receive email and SMS alerts if someone else tries to log into your Facebook account from a previously unknown computer or mobile phone. (I wish Google could bring such a feature to Gmail as well).

Google’s Gmail has a similar functionality using which you can track the user activity on the Gmail Account. Facebook has added one more level of security to send SMS alerts if someone else tries to log into your Facebook account from a previously unknown computer or mobile phone.
